| About me : |
Although I'm a west coast girl at heart, I've discovered there's too much of the world to see to stay in one place for too long! I'm not afraid to speak my mind. I like to ask questions. I like to be challenged. There are certain issues that are very important to me, such as social inequalities (particularly with regard to education and health). My experiences, both internationally and domestically, have made me aware of the privilege I have, and that's definitely given me a sense of social responsibility. I'm fortunate to have a job that gives me the opportunity to try to address these kinds of issues. At the same time, I like to think I've found the balance between being committed/working hard and not taking life too seriously. Although I value intelligence, I value intellectual curiosity even more. I love learning new things, whether it's a new word, a random fact on NPR, or a completely different philosophy/world view. I find I often learn the most through discussions with other people, especially when they have a different perspective, because it leads me to consider other points of view and strengthen or modify my own.\r\n
